Conference Series Overview

We Cover the Spectrum—Planning, Policy, Projects

  • Planning for a community’s energy future with energy strategy to improve the quality of life for the citizens, build capacity for a strong local economy, and reduce reliance on external energy sources.
  • Establishing policies and programs that incentivize adoption of distributed energy and efficiency, while at the same time evolving regulations to protect the energy system.
  • Building energy projects and efficiency programs in public works utility operations, municipal land holdings, municipal buildings, schools, hospitals and other large energy user premises.

Growing Interest in Community Energy Solutions

There has been never been stronger interest in community-based renewable energy and efficiency initiatives--fueled by climate concerns, energy prices and availability, global security issues, and the promise of green jobs to aid with the economic downturn. Now the emerging federal importance being placed on energy, transportation, infrastructure development and the, "Retrofitting of America" stands to create even more opportunities for municipalities, states and regions.  But communities have to position themselves to compete for federal and state dollars to support their energy and efficiency endeavors.

The Community Energy Roadmap (CER) brings local and state decision makers together to learn more about how to plan comprehensive community assessments, establish policies to ensure a regionally integrated approach, and implement their own municipal-grade energy projects with success.    This conference series provides the expertise and the networks to make a significant impact on how well municipalities can harness the potential in jobs and new energy infrastructure so needed today.

*Dates and locations to be announced as arrangements with host sponsors are finalized.

Each event in the Community Energy Roadmap Series addresses these three components in a way that best reflects the regional challenges and opportunities where that event is being held.
